What is the Environmental Lawforce project?

The research project “Environmental Law Enforcement: a Comparison of Practice in the Criminal and the Administrative Tracks” is a four-year project (2007-2011) that examines the enforcement of environmental law in Flanders and Brussels (Belgium). More specifically the project studies and compares criminal environmental law enforcement and administrative environmental law enforcement. The project is a result of collaboration between the University of Ghent, the Catholic University of Leuven and the University of Tilburg. Financial support is given by the Institute for the Encouragement of Innovation through Science and Technology in Flanders (IWT). It is a multi-disciplinary project: law (environmental, administrative and criminal law), economics (environmental economics) and Law & economics.
